Forward Deployed Engineer

About project: 

The company is an international organization operating in the maritime sector, providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to clients worldwide. It works closely with public authorities and international partners to ensure efficient handling of processes and documentation. The project focuses on a modern environment designed to streamline document workflows and reduce manual work, built around an integrated ecosystem of interconnected systems. The solution leverages automation, integrations, and advanced tools to improve data management and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

1. Work directly with business users to understand workflows, constraints, and improvement opportunities; define measurable hypotheses and KPIs (precision/recall, false-positive reduction, turnaround time)
2. Design and build Django REST APIs and admin workflows triggering asynchronous Celery tasks (Redis-backed queues)
3. Develop and maintain AI/LLM pipelines (RAG, classification, ranking, deduplication) with strong focus on evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and explainability
4. Rapid prototyping (notebooks, microservices, APIs) and validating solutions on real datasets
5. Build and ship modern web applications using React 18, Next.js, and Tailwind (component-driven architecture, secure API integrations)
6. Own PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and performance tuning for data-heavy workloads
7. Present outcomes to business stakeholders, recommend rollout strategies (pilot → production), and drive AI best practices internally

Requirements:

• Strong Python and Django expertise (ORM, Django Admin, Celery orchestration, Redis)
• Proven experience designing and delivering REST APIs and background processing systems
• Hands-on experience with LLM/AI solutions (e.g., OpenAI), RAG, prompting, structured validation, and evaluation frameworks
• Solid front-end experience with React 18, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS
• Strong SQL/PostgreSQL skills (data modeling, migrations, performance optimization)
• Practical Docker experience in dev/staging environments
• Proven AI/ML delivery track record with measurable business impact
• Fluent English with strong stakeholder communication skills
• Willingness to travel for business (occasionally, the client might ask for support with on-site implementation of the solution)

Nice to have:

• Background in risk, fraud, investigations, audit, or trust & safety domains
• Experience in modernization projects - replacing solutions such as Microsoft SharePoint and email-based workflows with automated process management systems
